When you join Explorers, you’ll be introduced to lots of new activities, people and things.
Badges & awards
Master something you love, or try something shiny and new. Explorers start small but think big, always challenging themselves to do more and be more. It all starts with an award.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Undertaking their DofE gives young people the opportunity to experience new activities or develop existing skills.
Humberside Scouts are proud to be a provider of the Duke of Edinbugh Award and we actively encourage our young people to partake in the award alongside the Chief Scouts Awards.
Explorer Scout promise
Every Explorer is unique, but they find common ground in their shared Scout values, and make a promise to stick by them.
Making a promise when you join the Unit is a way of celebrating these values.
Uniform and badge placement
You don’t need a uniform to join Explorers. But once you’ve settled in, you’ll start speedily earning badges, and you’ll need to know where to put them.

Young Leaders
Young Leaders are Explorer Scouts who volunteer alongside adult leaders in a Beaver Colony, Cub Pack or Scout Troop.
Being a Volunteer
All of our leaders are trained volunteers working to make Explorers the best it can be, but we don’t just need swashbuckling adventurers to lead our expeditions. We also need tidy-uppers and tea-makers and great listeners from all walks of life – for as much or as little time as they can spare.
