A number of our Explorers joined the district and 4000+ more Explorers for Gilwell 24 – a 24 hour event at the home of Scouts, full of exciting and adventurous activities.

The 24 hours of fun started at 9am on Saturday and the explorers went and got involved in a whole range of activities. From roller blading to riding segways and rock climbing to laser quest, the explorers even entered the football competition (despite getting knocked out in the first round!).

The idea was to take part in activities throughout the whole 24 hours… but none of our explorers did an all-nighter as they made their way back to the tents in the early hours of the morning (after they spent a couple of hours of singing and dancing at the silent disco). Despite this, we saw lots of tired and worn out explorers at the closing ceremony on Sunday at 9am.

This is the 4th year we’ve been to Gilwell 24, and both the explorers and leaders love it – we’ll be back again to take on the 24 hour challenge next year!
